When presented with the opportunity to take a backyard dedicated to the automobile and create lovely garden space for family and friends, you just know we had to jump at it. A new raised stone patio with a built-in barbecue spills down to a spacious dining area of rectangular flagstone. Reclaimed brick pavers flow from a new iron gate entrance at the side of the home to the sitting area and the newly converted two-car garage. The garage received a refresh with a stone and brick mix as cladding, some custom carriage house doors, a cedar roof, some windows and a vintage light fixture. Privacy was addressed with katsura trees and pyramid cedar hedging. A Green Gem boxwood hedge borders an upper bed of beech, while an informal spattering of perennials frames the entire yard.
